Each week, I see hundreds of kids come to our farmers market to meet farmers and roll up their sleeves for a free cooking class using fresh fruits and veggies. For many of them, it may be the first time visiting a farmers market, and they excitedly explore the stands with an open mind, a fresh palate, and hunger to learn.
And at the end of every Foodwise Kids class, their cheer of gratitude echoes through the market, bringing smiles to everyone's faces: "THANK YOU, FARMERS!!!"
You and I know that a healthy food system depends on supporting local farmers, who care for the earth and our community's health. A healthy food system also depends on investing in our kids--the eaters, farmers, and changemakers of tomorrow--to carry that vision into the future.
Since we wrote you this morning, we are just $1,200 away from our #GivingTuesday fundraising goal.
Thank you for doing your part! Marcy Coburn Executive Director of CUESA
