💰 $1 MILLION RAISED

Bitcoin Fundraising For Ottawa Truckers Freedom Convoy Hits Close To One Million
By Jesse Willms

The bitcoin fundraising for the Ottawa Freedom Truckers Convoy has met its goal of 21 bitcoin, and more donations continued to flow in. With 5,511 donors raising 22 bitcoin worth more than $932K, the committee is now in the process of consolidating the funds and focusing on the best way to get the funds to the truckers.

The distribution strategy will be split in two different objectives:'

  • 20% of the funds raised are in a hardware wallet and intended to be used for immediate needs including food, hotel rooms, legal aid and fuel.
  • 80% of the funds are being consolidated into a multi-sig wallet while the destination of the funds and the initial handouts await to be determined.
Proposals are being considered depending on how the truckers might want to receive the funds:
  • Credit card payments/overpayments
  • Transfers
  • Direct bank deposits
  • Gift cards.
As Canadian banks seem poised to freeze accounts in relation with the protest, it is important to proceed with caution.

💻 FED REGULATION

With Sarah Bloom Raskin Up For Big FED Role, Will Regulation Turn Against Bitcoin?
By Ansel Linder

Sarah Bloom Raskin is President Biden’s nominee for vice chairwoman for supervision and a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. Her qualifications include being a member of the Board from 2010 to 2014 and the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury from 2014 to 2017. However, there is plenty of controversy around her and even the U.S. Chamber of Commerce wrote an open letter in opposition to Raskin’s appointment.

Raskin has been accused of using regulatory power to choke off capital for fossil fuels, parlaying her past government service into lucrative private work and being a false climate activist for personal benefit.

While her view on Bitcoin is not completely clear, Raskin’s progressive peers have spread misinformation about bitcoin mining’s environmental impact. In addition, the man whom Raskin is nominated to replace, Randal Quarles, is known for being against CBDC’s and pro bitcoin.

Replacing him with a person of opposite views could dramatically shift the balance at the Fed.

MEME OF THE DAY

By Jeff Booth

Whenever you hear that the central bank is printing money again for zero marginal cost, for whatever reason, put it into perspective. No one should have the power to create the same money you work hard for out of thin air. Especially not at these ridiculous amounts.

"One of the things that contributes to confusion when money is manipulated is that big numbers are difficult for our brains to process and compare." - Jeff Booth
