1. L'OREAL PARIS HOSTS 14th ANNUAL WOMEN OF WORTH AWARDS: Women honored women, and reminded one another of their value, Wednesday night during L'Oréal Paris' 14th annual Women of Worth Awards at the Pierre Hotel in New York. The awards recognize 10 women from across the country who volunteer their time and energy to causes they find important. Actresses and brand spokeswomen Amber Heard, Aja Naomi King, and Andie MacDowell attended the event. The Hollywood Reporter: “This year's honorees were recognized for everything from hand-making baskets of items for families with babies who have Down Syndrome to teaching healthy self-esteem and safe sex to teenage girls, mentoring immigrant girls about their cultural identity, and providing free legal and therapeutic support for adolescents who have survived things like conversion therapy. ‘The one thing all these women have in common is they never told themselves no,’ Aja Naomi King, a L'Oréal Paris spokeswoman and How to Get Away With Murder star, said. ‘They constantly found a way to do something that wasn't only going to impact themselves but others.’”

2. THE WHO RETURNS TO CINCINNATI AFTER A 40 YEAR HIATUS: The Who plans to return to the Cincinnati area next year after a 40 year absence, it was announced this week. The quintessential British band has stayed away from the city since a stampede in 1979 led to the death of 11 fans. Now, The Who is poised to come back April 23, performing at BB&T Arena at Northern Kentucky University during its Moving On! Tour. New York Times: “The group will donate some proceeds from the concert to the P.E.M. Memorial Scholarship Fund, a Cincinnati group founded in 2010 in honor of three high school students who died at the 1979 concert. That 1979 performance was a sold-out show, with the majority of the more than 18,000 tickets sold as unassigned or general-assignment seating… Along with the 11 who died, more than two dozen people reported injuries.”

3. QUESTEX ACQUIRES THREE DIGITAL BRANDS AND THEIR EVENTS: Following its sale last year to private equity firm MidOcean Partners, global B-to-B media and event firm Questex has acquired several events and digital brands from Informa plc. Among the properties changing hands are Live Design and the annual LDI trade show, which serves lighting and sound professionals; Club Industry and the annual Club Industry Show, which serves health and fitness facility managers; and the annual, three-day World Tea Expo as well as the digital brand World Tea News. LOS ANGELES: The Radisson Blu Anaheim has named Steve Lindburg as its general manager. The 326-room hotel, located one mile from Disneyland, is slated to open in September 2020.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: On Location Experiences, the official hospitality partner of the National Football League, and Bud Light announced Thursday the return of the Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest. Celebrating its second year, the three-night festival runs from January 30 through February 1 at AmericanAirlines Arena. The event will feature performances by Guns N’ Roses, Maroon 5, and others.

NEW ORLEANS: The Independent Lodging Congress has opened registration for its first event in New Orleans, INDIE Confab New Orleans 2020. Taking place January 13 and 14, the meeting is meant to connect people from the worlds of hotels, food and beverage, design, and finance.

NEW YORK: NYC Pride executive director Chris Frederick has announced his departure from the organization, effective today. He is joining Out Leadership as managing director of global events.

WASHINGTON: SandboX, an event venue in Georgetown, will serve as a modern jazz club featuring live performances in December. The shows will be presented in conjunction with the annual Georgetown GLOW exhibit and the Filament live dance performances nearby.
