1. JENNIFER LOPEZ AND SHAKIRA TO HEADLINE SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW: Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will headline the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Sponsored by Pepsi, the event will take place February 2 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. The Hollywood Reporter: “The singers shared the news on Twitter, with the N.F.L. confirming the news shortly after. … ‘We’ve been working closely behind-the-scenes with our longstanding partners at the N.F.L., and now alongside Roc Nation to bring these mega superstars together. It is a testament to our partnership and commitment to push the envelope of what is possible,’ Adam Harter, senior V.P. of sports, media, and entertainment for Pepsi also shared.”

2. COMIC BOOK HALL OF FAME TO HONOR ‘MAD MAGAZINE’ CONTRIBUTORS: The annual Harvey Awards, which take place during New York Comic Con, will induct seven people to the Hall of Fame, including five contributors to Mad Magazine, which recently announced it will effectively shut down this fall. The ceremony, taking place October 4 at Hudson Mercantile, also will honor Fun Home cartoonist Alison Bechdel and Hellboy comic book creator Mike Mignola. The New York Times: “The other inductees, posthumously, are Will Elder, Jack Davis, Ben Oda, and the siblings John Severin and Marie Severin, who were all significant contributors to Mad Magazine, which was founded and created by Harvey Kurtzman. (The award is named for Kurtzman and is sponsored by ReedPOP, the company that operates New York Comic Con.) The awards have been presented at a variety of comic book conventions over the years, and made New York Comic Con a permanent home in 2017.”

3. GLOBAL CITIZEN ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR 10-HOUR BROADCAST IN 2020: Global Citizen and C.E.O. advisory firm Teneo announced Thursday the year-long campaign, Global Goal Live: The Possible Dream, which will include a 10-hour concert broadcast on September 26, 2020. Simultaneous events will take place in in New York, Lagos, Nigeria, and to-be-announced cities in Latin America, Europe, and Asia. This year’s Global Citizen Festival will take place Saturday in New York’s Central Park. Billboard: “In partnership with Live Nation and Diversified Production Services (DPS), the 2020 broadcast event will include a Global Citizen Festival in Lagos, Nigeria, supported by the Lagos State Government, Tunde Folawiyo, chairman of Global Citizen Nigeria, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, vice chair of Global Citizen Nigeria, and Access Bank. SM Entertainment, the largest entertainment company in South Korea, and Dream Maker, the leading live and tour promotion/production company in Korea, will bring Global Goal Live to Asia and will be executive produced by Soo Man Lee, the head producer and founder of SM Entertainment. MGM Worldwide Television Group will oversee the global broadcast, which will be executive produced by Mark Burnett.”

COAST TO COAST: Samantha Brown and Rick Steves will speak at the 2020 Travel & Adventure Show series. The series kicks off in Boston January 11-12, and also will travel to Los Angeles February 15-16, Philadelphia March 14-15, and Dallas March 28-29. A full schedule can be found on travelshows.com.

LOS ANGELES: Staples Center has partnered with audio tech company Mixhalo to introduce an in-ear audio experience for every seat in the venue. Event attendees will be able to use their phone, headphones, and a free mobile app to control what they want to hear.

MIAMI: The Euclid Hotel, a Urbanica The Hotels property, will open in Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood in October. The hotel will have 30 guest rooms and Orilla Bar and Grill, a South American and European restaurant that seats 80 guests.

NEW YORK: InterContinental New York Times Square has appointed Gul Turkmenoglu general manager.

TORONTO: The 20th annual Art Toronto, which returns to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre October 25-27, will introduce public art installations for the first time in the lobby of the venue.
