Hey Friends,

Have you noticed the flowers starting to pop in your part of the country yet? We hope this finds you happy, healthy, and thriving.

We've been getting out for lots of brisk walks in the fresh air to stay active and keep spirits up. Of course, we've also been dreaming of all the trips we'd like to plan and fun things we'd like to do outside as spring unfolds and summer grows nearer.

In the meantime, we've been creating awesome new content to share with you. Our latest big project was creating a list of the Best Rain Jackets. We gathered up a bunch of the best jackets on the market and put them to the test in the snow, rain, and hail.

We're continuing to update all of our gear guides as well to make sure they're up-to-speed with all the latest greatest gear being released this spring. We're really excited to start using the new hammocks we picked up as soon as we get some nice dry weather.

You can also look forward to a Best Water Bottles Gear Guide, a Quick Guide to Thru-Hiking the Continental Divide Trail, a list of the Best Rain Pants, and much more soon.

As always, thanks for following along.

GEAR PICK OF THE WEEK

Altra Lone Peak 4.5

At CleverHiker, we often hike in lightweight trail running shoes on spring, summer, and fall trips. They keep our feet nimble, minimize blisters, dry fairly quickly, offer excellent traction, and don’t exhaust our legs over long days on the trail.

There’s a lot to love about Altra’s Lone Peak 4.5 trail runners. They’re grippy,  lightweight, and they feature an extraordinarily roomy toe box. We were already fans of previous Lone Peak models, but the 4.5s are the best yet. The most notable improvements include better traction for variable terrain and even cushier soles. Between the “foot-shaped” toe box and the zero-drop design of the Lone Peaks, you’d be hard-pressed to find a trail runner with a more comfy fit  The Lone Peaks have long been a staple for thru-hikers, and they’re a great choice for anyone looking for lightweight comfort on their runs and hikes without skimping on performance.
