Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS, which is the Japanese professional baseball team, has temporarily hired Pepper robots. Watch how Pepper is dancing and cheering from the sidelines during the games!
The largest robot cheerleading squad comprises 100 Pepper humanoid robots, formed by SoftBank Robotics and Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS, and made its debut at the Nippon Professional Baseball league match in Fukuoka city, Fukuoka, Japan on 26 March 2021.
This innovation was planned as a new support style for watching baseball games, which was restricted by the spread of the new coronavirus infection. In June 2020, we formed a robot cheering party using the vacant stands to bring bright topics and energy to fans who are forced to refrain from entering in the stadium where there are no spectators and admission restrictions continue.
