MPR News PM Update
March 20, 2020

Sun’s back -- with a bit colder temps. This weekend’s forecast seems pretty uneventful. It’ll get fairly cold by Saturday morning across Minnesota, especially parts in northern Minnesota with below-zero lows. Temps will ramp up over the weekend. Saturday highs will be in the upper 20s and mid-30s and Sunday in the mid-30s to upper 40s.

COVID-19 in Minnesota today: 115 cases confirmed, no shelter-in-place yet. While Minnesota health officials have conducted more than 3,800 tests so far, there are 1,291 samples still waiting for testing, Gov. Walz said. Meanwhile, more than 95,000 Minnesotans have applied for unemployment benefits, a third of whom are restaurant, bar or entertainment workers

Coronavirus fears have cleared highways in Minnesota -- just in time for the roadwork season. Traffic volume has already fallen by 25 percent or more on many roads. With fewer people on area highways, roadwork might happen more quickly. And with the snow gone in many places, the bulldozers and concrete mixers are about to move in.

Fun stuff you can do during this social distancing eraNo gatherings, no school, no weekend hangout -- at least for a while. So what can you do to entertain yourself during the pandemic? Here, we put together a list of some (virtual) events, tips and outdoor areas you can check out.
