Happy Friday! We’re talking bills, bone broth and bluebonnets this week! Talk about a wrong number. A local woman got a cell phone bill for more than $46,000! A closer look at the stunner of a bill showed someone had set up four extra lines on her account and made call after call after call to the Dominican Republic. Turned out, according to what she was told by her provider, she was the victim malware. And, it appears she was the target of a sneaky international scheme. Fortunately, her provider, AT&T erased the charges. To reduce your risk of mobile malware: install those phone updates asap, use secure passwords and passcodes and be careful downloading apps. (And, get rid of apps you don’t really use.) Read: SA woman stunned by $46,000 cellphone bill Bone broth ---although people have been making it for centuries, it’s trendy now. And, a local family has made it their business. You should smell their kitchen! Alysa Seeland started sipping homemade bone broth a few years back to deal with serious health issues. She was so impressed by what it did for her, she wanted to share. FOND was born and is now in 52 small retailers in Texas and is about to land on shelves in two major grocers. I had a chance to head up toward Marble Falls last week, but they’re gorgeous in pretty much any direction. And, if Castroville is on your weekend map, enjoy those beautiful poppies! And, don’t forget the camera. Watch: Texas Travelin' with Sarah Spivey: Castroville poppies Have a great weekend, everybody! Marilyn |
