If you love a parade, it’s your weekend!  They’re all great, but I’ve always been partial to the Flambeau. Maybe it’s the cooler temperatures at night. The floats are so much fun and I have mad respect  for the high school marching bands – the hardest working kids on campus in my opinion.

If you need to stock up on batteries and grab a new fire extinguisher, it’s also a good weekend to do that.  Saturday through Monday, Texans pay no sales tax on a list of emergency preparation supplies. Think flashlights, phone chargers, tarps and  even a portable generator (as long as it costs less than $3,000.)  The state is encouraging folks to prepare for those severe spring storms.  The weather can get kind of wild and woolly.

Rain – even though we need it –means mosquitoes.   So, it helps to  have a good bug spray.  Consumer Reports  just tested a bunch and found what matters most is the concentration of the active ingredient.  Here are their recommendations for DEET and non-DEET insect repellents.
