Dear reader

A Covid-19 tracing mobile phone app for Northern Ireland has long been mooted and it will finally be launched next week.

Stormont health committee witness Dan West said on Thursday it would be called Stop Covid NI.

The tracing app will be limited to adults, pending further discussions with young people’s advocates in Northern Ireland including the Children’s Commissioner.

It was also revealed on Thursday that 14 healthcare staff here in Northern Ireland contracted coronavirus after having been incorrectly fitted for a protected mask.

Meanwhile, the death toll related to Covid-19 in Northern Ireland remains at 556 after no further deaths were recorded. However, eight more positive cases of Covid-19 were detected in the last 24 hours.

Stay safe
