Get 15% off City Lit courses in this Cyber Weekend deal

There's always time to learn something new... or to develop new skills. City Lit is one of the best places to do it, with dozens of courses for adults. Learn to sketch, act, massage, code, or communicate in sign language — to give just a handful of examples.

Learning needn't be costly, either. City Lit's Cyber Weekend deal gets you 15% off your chosen course. All you have to do is book onto an eligible course between 24 and 27 November 2023, and use discount code CW15CL. City Lit offers courses to suit all needs, including classroom-based workshops, local site visits and online learning.

City Lit, based in Covent Garden, is part of the fabric of London, having been founded in 1919 by London County Council. Fittingly, then, it runs many courses with a London flavour. We've picked out four of the best below, but many more can be found on the City Lit website — and don't forget the 15% Cyber Weekend discount!

Introduction To The V&A

The V&A in South Kensington is unknowably large... or so we thought. We're very tempted to sign up to City Lit's 10-session course, which visits nearly all the galleries in this sprawling temple of art and design. The course places the museum's artefacts in their historical context and traces the development of the decorative arts over the centuries. (Jan-Mar 2024)

London's Smaller Art Collections

At the other end of the scale, try a course that explores some of the city's more compact galleries. This five-week course visits such gems as Leighton House and the Wallace Collection (pictured), with an expert introduction to their holdings and history. Learn how to discuss art with increased confidence, while visiting some beautiful venues. (Feb-Mar 2024)

Square Mile History

We've often said on Londonist that the best way to learn London's history is to get out onto the streets and explore. Even better if you have an experienced tutor with you. City Lit's nine-week course is taught on the very streets where history happened, from the Great Fire of London up until modern times. (Jan-Mar 2024)

City Of Words

Perhaps you're more interested in the literary side of London? A seven-week course follows in the footsteps of the city's famous authors, poets and playwrights — and their creations. Each week your tutor will guide you around a different area of London, exploring its literary connections. (Jan-Feb 2024)
