NATIONAL: Apartment Therapy's food vertical, Kitchn, is hosting an interactive virtual activation called Thanksgiving Food Fest from Nov. 14-15. The interactive, Instagram-based event will consist of segments with Kitchn editors, experts from QVC, and notable chefs and bakers, all discussing ways to prepare for the upcoming holiday. The Humane Society of the United States will host its "To the Rescue!" gala virtually Nov. 14. The event will be hosted by Cecily Strong and feature appearances by Georgina Bloomberg, Liev Schreiber, and Humane Society president and CEO Kitty Block. The fundraiser will contribute to animal rescue, farm animal protection, and ending puppy mills and dog meat farms. The Global Down Syndrome Foundation will host its Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show virtually Nov. 14. Performers will include singer Rachel Platten, The Fray's Isaac Slade, and The Ransom Notes, and the event will pay tribute to DeOndra Dixon, a foundation ambassador (and sister to actor Jamie Foxx) who passed away this month. Tickets can be purchased for $25. NEW YORK: Axe-throwing activity venue Live Axe has opened in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood. The 10,000-square-foot space features seven cage-enclosed axe-throwing lanes, a black-iron bar with futuristic tube lighting, and custom murals of celebrities reimagined as vikings. A private event room has its own bar and three additional throwing lanes. SAN ANTONIO: Thompson San Antonio is now accepting reservations for stays beginning March 1, 2021.
