The US The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has been permitted by a judge to issue a "John Doe" summons to a bank that provided services for crypto broken SFOX – allowing the agency to pursue potential tax evaders. |
MY Safra Bank must hand over information about SFOX customers that may not have reported and paid taxes on their crypto transactions. Similar summons have been issued to Kraken and Circle. |
The summons asks for any information about US taxpayers who conducted $20,000 in crypto transactions between 2016 and 2021 with SFOX. |
Cardano's major Vasil hard-fork upgrade has been triggered, improving the network's transaction capacity and lowering transaction fees. The upgrade has also enhanced the platform's smart contract language, Plutus. |
Regular ADA holders require no action for the upgrade, which was delayed from June. It will take one epoch for the Vasil capabilities to be made available on mainnet, on September 27. |
Tornado Cash code and repositories have been unbanned on GitHub, following several weeks of being banned after US Treasury sanctions. The move comes after the Office of Foreign Asset Control clarified its policies around the project earlier this month. |
The repositories are now only available in read-only mode, however, with full restoration still yet to occur. OFAC has also noted that US users are not prohibited from visiting the Tornado Cash website, if it goes back up again. |
