A report from Higher Ed Dive shows that 18 of the dozens of colleges that have permanently closed or were forced to merge since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic were Christian institutions. The group also noted that factors such as the high cost of attending college, stagnating state funding, and a small number of high school graduate enrollees have contributed to the decline. The Council for Christian Colleges and Universities' chief communications officer, Amanda Staggenborg, says the trend is impacting secular and religious institutions, citing reasons such as declining birth rates and decreases in the number of students graduating high school and high school graduates seeking a higher education. A crowdfunding campaign for a six-year-old boy who lost his entire family in the Texas outlet mall shooting has raised more than $1.5 million just days after the tragedy. Cindy, Kyu, 6-year-old William and 3-year-old James Cho were at the Allen Premium Outlets on Saturday afternoon when a gunman opened fire, killing at least eight people, including children, and injuring seven others. Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano shared that William is a student at the private school; Prestonwood Church Pastor Jack Graham urged his congregation to "be the Church," saying, "We're going to keep loving and serving this family." A poll from The Washington Post and ABC News shows that 58% of Democrat-leaning adults, 47% of Democrats, and 77% of independents who lean Democrat want the Democrat Party to nominate "someone other than Biden" for the 2024 presidential election. Just 36% of respondents approve of Biden's performance as president, down from 42% in February. Fifty-four percent said they believe Trump handled the economy better than Biden. Respondents also ranked Trump as healthier than Biden both mentally (54% vs. 32%) and physically (64% vs. 33%), though they considered Biden more trustworthy (41% vs. 33%). Read more.
Despite recent news that he had joined Pastor Michael Todd's Transformation Church in Tulsa, Okla., as a "strategist," disgraced former Hillsong NYC pastor Carl Lentz revealed via Instagram on Tuesday that he's "no longer in ministry." Lentz admitted that his sins led him to some "dark places" and specified he is not preaching or overseeing people but that his role "is to help give perspective and insight where I can." Read more.

Shanda and her family said yes to sponsoring a child with World Vision while attending Soul City Church in Chicago. "We believe it's a part of our mission as believers in Christ," says Shanda about helping others. Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby was among the thousands to volunteer during The Big Help Out on Monday, an effort organized as a follow-up to King Charles III's coronation in the United Kingdom. The archbishop and his wife served meals at Catching Lives, a homeless charity in Canterbury. Welby is a patron of the charity, which supports people affected by homelessness. Read more.
