Hello from 1Password

Hello everyone,

I’ve been having a blast being out and about with my family catching Pokémon in this wonderful weather. I’m just about to get to level 30 and my Pokédex is up to 219 registered so far.

Just like Pokémon, we have a ton of 1Password updates for you to catch — one for each of our existing apps, as well as an entirely new one!

And the best part about these updates is you don’t need to walk 217 kilometers like I needed to when collecting my Pokémon! 😃

1Password for Mac & iOS

Let’s start with the Apple side of the world and talk about 1Password 6.8 which was released for both Mac and iOS. You can see Michael’s 1Password 6.8 for Mac & iOS announcement post for all the details.

1Password for Mac and iOS updates

Of the nearly 50 improvements in these releases, my favourite one by far is how one-time passwords work now.

Many websites are moving towards adding an extra layer of protection by using one-time passwords (aka security code or 2FA) and in this release 1Password automatically copies these to your clipboard when you fill your password. This way you have it handy when the site asks for it on the next screen.

If you’d like to learn more about using 1Password as an authenticator for sites that use one-time passwords, check out our support guide.

1Password for Windows

1Password for Windows gets more exciting every day

Our Windows team has been on fire since we last talked so things are really heating up on the Windows side of the world. They released version 6.6 in June, and then 6.7 just last week.

You can see Kate’s 1Password 6.7 for Windows announcement post for all the details but just like Mac and iOS, the automatic copying of one-time passwords to the clipboard is the star of the show.

Oh, and if you’re a lover of standalone vaults and have been itching to learn when you can use this option in the newest Windows version, you’ll want to read Kate’s post all the way to the end to find out. 🙂

1Password Teams get Travel mode and Slack

1Password for Teams

There’s been a lot happening on our 1Password Teams side of the world also! Since we last talked we introduced Slack integration as well as our popular Travel Mode.

1Password Travel Mode

Travel Mode is super handy and easy to use as it allows you and your fellow team members to easily remove sensitive data from your devices before crossing the border into another country. Then, once you’re happily on your way to your final destination, you can easily restore all your data with the click of a button. If only packing my suitcase was this easy!

Be sure to see our support site to learn how to use Travel Mode. And while you’re there, take a moment to enjoy the new design — our docs team has been busy!

Last but not least, if you’re not familiar with 1Password for Teams yet, we have a lovely Get to Know 1Password Teams series that I think you’ll enjoy:

Get to Know 1Password Teams…

Oh, and one of the biggest questions I hear whenever I talk about 1Password for Teams is Linux support, and I hope you’re about to ask me about that as I have a great answer ready that I want to share… 🙂

1Password for Chrome OS and Linux

I’m incredibly excited to announce a present for all our Chrome OS and Linux users — we are actively working on a brand new 1Password extension designed specifically for you!

1Password for Chrome OS and Linux in Beta

We’re currently in private beta testing so I’m not able to share screenshots or give you a direct download link just yet. With that said, the beta has been going extremely well so I’m thrilled to invite you to join our Chrome OS and Linux beta family!

If you’re using Linux or Chrome OS, I’d love to see you join our beta family and help us put the finishing touches on things. With any luck I’ll be able to share more details and some lovely screenshots in my next update.

Soon, I hope!

1Password for Android

1Password for Android updates coming soon

Speaking of coming soon, we have a doozy of an update coming for Android that I’m dying to tell you about. This release needs a wee bit more time in the incubator, so just like the legendary birds in Pokémon, we’re all going to have to wait a little while before it makes its appearance.

And there you have it — updates for every platform, plus two additional new ones! We’ve been busy coding during the day and catching Pokémon at night! 😃

Until next time, take care and please let us know in our forums if you have any questions, concerns, or Pokémon advice. 😉
