Man arrested and charged in relation to 'vicious' threat

A man has been arrested and charged for allegedly sending threats to SNP MP Joanna Cherry.

The Edinburgh South West MP contacted police after a “vicious threat” was made to her personal safety when she posted a message on Twitter saying that she had been “sacked” from her party’s front bench team at Westminster.

A police spokeswoman confirmed on Thursday that a 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged.

 

The main Highland train line has been closed due to 'deep' snowdrifts

ScotRail has announced that the Highland Main Line has been closed at Dalwhinnie, due to snowdrifts as weather warnings come into place across Scotland.

Heavy snowfall on the rail track between Carrbridge to Blair Atholl is also disrupting train services between Edinburgh and Glasgow to Inverness.

More than 2,000 items head to auction following 'clear out' of Highland castle

An aristocrat is hoping for much ‘cash in the attic’ after embarking on a major clearout of his Highland pile.

More than 2,000 individual items will go up for sale at Bonhams auction in April after the attics and cellars of Dunrobin Castle in Sutherland were opened up for the first time in many years.
