BY JENNIFER WADSWORTH | Assistant metro editor Good morning. Baton Rouge police made a couple homicide arrests Wednesday, one in an armed heist that led to a shooting in February and another involving a beating that led to the victim's death a few months later. Meanwhile, investigators told us they were looking into a drive-by shooting that targeted a quiet neighborhood in Prairieville earlier in the week. Officials said they believe at least 15 shots were fired into a home on Corvette Drive Monday evening. Remarkably, authorities said no one was injured. On the roadways, at least one person died in a fiery wreck Wednesday on southbound I-10 by the Governor's Mansion. Meanwhile, a proposal to kick another $80K over to the law firm representing BRPD Chief Murphy Paul in legal battles over the way his disciplines officers lost some momentum Wednesday when the Metro Council opted against taking the next step by setting a public hearing on the matter. Here's a recap of what happened, as reported by Terry Jones. We've got more stories below, so click through to read through — and be sure to check back around lunch time for more headlines.
