| A new season of bite-size orchestral concerts at the Barbican Half Six Fix is back! This enormously popular event series, which offers a unique way to experience the magic of the London Symphony Orchestra, returns to the Barbican this month. Each concert begins at 6.30pm and lasts just an hour, so it's great for families, as well as adults after an exciting alternative to pre-dinner drinks (in fact, you're welcome to bring one in from the bar!) All Half Six Fix concerts begin the same way — with a warm welcome from your conductor, who'll give you a quick primer on what you're about to hear. It's all about making orchestral music accessible — if you're new to the art form, knowing what inspired the composer, or what to listen out for can really help you connect with the piece. Introduction done, it's time for the main event: a beautiful symphony performed live by the LSO's world-class musicians. Big screens will show close-ups of these performers as they play, giving closer insight into the mechanics of an orchestra than you'd typically expect. The next Half Six Fix concert takes place on 20 September, when conductor Barbara Hannigan will introduce you to the tongue-in-cheek drama of Stravinsky's Pulcinella. That's followed by Beethoven's Symphony No 7 on 11 October, with the LSO’s new Chief Conductor Designate Sir Antonio Pappano. The final concert for 2023 will be Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No 6, conducted by Gianandrea Noseda on 6 December.
