ESPN's communications team has worked to keep employees engaged and morale high amid the pandemic by utilizing its intranet and email to share leadership messaging, crisis-specific training, employee photos and retirement celebrations, writes Brendan Gannon. Following the first six weeks of the pandemic, ESPN had broken "every engagement record on the intranet" and numerous articles surpassed page view records.

A CDC study found about 70% of adult caregivers and parents, and about 85% of people who were both, reported mental health issues during the COVID-19 pandemic, compared with about one-third of people who did not have either role. "Caregivers who had someone to rely on for support had lower odds of experiencing any adverse mental health symptoms," researchers said.
Feeling stuck in a rut can be remedied without drastic or rash changes, especially when you have a plan, writes executive coach Elisabeth Hayes. Try a simple morning reflection as a pathway to redesigning your schedule, for example, or put time on the calendar for simple networking to force yourself to engage and meet new people, Hayes writes.
I was in Austin last week, doing a session at an education conference. It was the first event I’d attended since the lockdowns went into effect.
