With misty mornings, afternoons growing warmer, and a beloved jasmine plant about to bloom in the garden, it's truly feeling like spring here.
Anticipating this moment, a couple weeks ago I started seeds for tomatoes, beans, peas, amaranth, dahlias, and my favorite...sweet peas.
(Anne Helen Peterson wrote a wild story about Dahlia Wars that I found fascinating).
After a few days of hardening off the seedlings, I moved about half to the garden and they seem to be thriving. Phew.
It's always a thrill to witness sweet peas finding their way up the trellis!
Now, in the studio, I'm noticing some of the anticipated flower colors and shapes showing up in a new painting.
Connecting art to the seasons can also hold so much meaning for kids.
Children feel the longer days, notice the warmer air, and observe the emerging flowers and increased presence of birds.
One way to create lasting and engaging art experiences is to link them with authentic curiosities.
To help you forge seasonal art experiences at the art table and outside in the misty and increasingly warm spring air, here are 20 spring art ideas for kids.
