2017 Florida League All-Star Game
The 2017 Florida League All-Star Game presented by Central Florida McDonald's brought a record setting Home Run Derby, followed by an exciting game between the North and the South. Just like the history books, the North prevailed, winning the game 6-4.
Chase Smartt (Winter Garden) provided the highlight of the night early on when he hit twelve home runs in the first round of the HR Derby.
Cristian Rivera (Winter Park) took home MVP honors after finishing the night 3-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
For the second consecutive week, a player from Winter Park and a player from Leesburg are honored with the Duffy's MVP of the Week award. Zach Howard hit two home runs and helped Winter Park to a 4-1 record on the week. Danny Pierce worked four innings of perfect baseball in two separate games to earn the nod for top pitcher.
We have a full slate of games Monday-Thursday before the Florida League prospect team leaves on Friday morning to travel to North Carolina for the 5th Annual Southeast Prospect Showcase.
