2020 Library of Congress National Book Festival: Celebrating American Ingenuity 

Register now for the 2020 Library of Congress National Book Festival running Sept. 25-27. The festival will connect audiences across the country during these challenging times with an interactive celebration of “American Ingenuity” online and on television.

Virtual Festival

During the weekend of Sept. 25-27, virtual stages at loc.gov/bookfest will offer on-demand videos, live author chats and discussions, options to personalize your own festival journey with timely topics, and book buying possibilities through the festival’s official bookseller, Politics & Prose. The following stages will accommodate the more than 120 authors, poets and illustrators participating in this year’s festival:

PBS Television Special “Celebrating American Ingenuity”

Following a weekend of virtual festivities, audiences can tune-in to a PBS television special featuring some of the nation’s most renowned authors and literary voices. PBS stations will broadcast “The Library of Congress National Book Festival: Celebrating American Ingenuity,” hosted by Hoda Kotb on Sunday, Sept. 27, 6-8 p.m. ET/PT (check local listings). The broadcast will also be available for on-demand streaming online and through the PBS app.

  • Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Colson Whitehead receiving the Library’s Prize for American Fiction and discussing his lifelong career in writing.
  • Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright’s memoir, “Hell and Other Destinations.”
  • National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Jason Reynolds on his book “Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You,” which he wrote with Ibram X. Kendi.
  • John Grisham on his latest books “Camino Winds” and “The Guardians.”
  • “TODAY” show co-host Jenna Bush Hager on “Everything Beautiful in Its Time,” a collection of stories about her grandparents. 
  • Chelsea Clinton on her new book for young readers, “She Persisted in Sports: American Olympians Who Changed the Game.”

Attendees are invited to take a deeper dive through Timely Topic Threads, which will offer festivalgoers a more profound appreciation of the featured subjects. They are:
