Globally, in 2021, investments across sectors surpassed $643 billion, nearly double the total investments in 2020 ($335 billion), and grew 92% YoY, as per data from Crunchbase. The FinTech sector accounted for 19% of the total investments in 2021.
2021 was a bumper year for FinTech investments. FinTechs created history by raising $120.6 billion in funding and closed 3,769 deals. In addition to 348 mega funding deals, the number of Unicorns grew 6.65x, from 23 in 2020 to 153 in 2021.
