The nursing profession is experiencing widespread workforce shortages, with health systems and hospitals grappling with a shortage of experienced nurses in particular. In 2023, staffing shortages were a driving factor in nurse strikes at hospitals across the country.
HealthLeaders recently convened a five-member panel of nursing executives to discuss the top challenges facing the nursing profession in 2024. The panel addressed a range of topics but focused on the nursing workforce, nursing administrative burdens, and nursing and technology.
