LG’s new Gram Pro finally looks like a serious MacBook Pro rival |
Ahead of CES, LG has announced a refresh to three members of its Gram Pro lineup, and also a new budget-friendly Gram Book |
Most notable among LG’s recent Gram Book announcements is the Gram Pro 17, which is now slimmer at 0.62 inches, — almost the same as the 16-inch MacBook Pro. LG's Gram Pro 17 is also a full pound and a half lighter than the MacBook Pro, both of which are striving to be among the best laptops you can buy. It’s also the most powerful LG Gram Pro in the lineup, as it now sports an RTX 4050 GPU, a decent improvement on the previous model’s outdated RTX 3050. Read on for more details on the Gram Pro 17, as well as the other new Gram Book laptops ... |

This handset was just named the least durable smartphone of 2024 |
Popular YouTuber also singled out the most durable phone, as well as the most/least repairable handsets |
Zack Nelson of the popular YouTube channel JerryRigEverything has just announced his least -- and most -- durable phones of 2024. As anyone who’s watched his videos will know, Nelson’s somewhat unscientific durability test includes a great deal of scratching, scraping, burning, and bending, with most smartphones left looking battered and bruised by the end of the process. Speaking at a table full of phones and tablets wrecked by Nelson over the last 12 months, the tech YouTuber named the triple-folding Huawei Mate XT as his least durable handset of 2024, saying that while the handset's design is “super cool,” the device itself is most definitely not “super durable.” Read on to find out which handset was named the most durable, and which were the least/most repairable ... |

Sony Bravia 8 review: A solid and lovely OLED TV
|
It stacks up well against the LG C4, but it all comes down to what features, OS, and remote that you prefer
|
Digital Trends’ home theater specialist Caleb Denison has had a chance to go hands-on with the Bravia 8 OLED TV, which Sony launched last spring. Giving it four stars out of a possible five, Caleb praised the Bravia 8’s excellent motion and upscaling, amazing contrast, impressive HDR, and great sound. However, the TV lacks deep calibration features and it has only two HDMI 2.1 ports, which may not be enough for some folks. Caleb’s in-depth review covers whether the Bravia 8 will please loyal Sony fans, whether you should buy this TV over the LG C4, and what it does better than the competition ... |

Sonic 3, Mufasa poised to battle for top spot at box office this weekend
|
There are no major theatrical releases set for first weekend of 2025 |
The first weekend of January is typically a slow period for new movie releases as holiday holdovers tend to dominate the box office. According to the latest forecast by Boxoffice Pro, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is all set to remain at No. 1 in North America this weekend, raking in up to $22 million. Mufasa, on its third weekend of release, seems likely to stay rooted in second place with up to $20 million in revenue, while Nosferatu — a reimagination of the Dracula-inspired 1922 movie of the same name — is forecast to place third with up to $14 million in ticket sales. |
