That’s why it’s a big deal when big avocados are discovered — like the nearly 6-pound monster grown by the Pokini family of Maui, Hawaii. The plant was their personal submission to the Guinness Book of World Records and, after a professional judge examined both the fruit and the decade-old tree it came from, the family made off with 2019’s prize for the World’s Biggest Avocado.
