Read this: Credit: Andrea Bartz December is when I catch up on books that I never got to earlier in the year (the downside of covering books for a living: you're beholden to the quickly moving publishing schedule) and I am *so glad* I made time for The Herd.
Centered on The Herd — a highly exclusive women-only co-working space in New York (*cough* The Wing *cough*) — the book follows freelance journalist Katie, who's searching for what comes next after her book deal fell apart. Her publicist sister, Hana, is a trusted close friend to The Herd's charismatic founder, Eleanor, and though she can't allow Katie to cut the (very long) waitlist for membership, she offers access to their elite network of Harvard grads. The more Katie learns, the more she's certain Eleanor is the perfect subject for her next project — but then Eleanor goes missing, and the shiny girl-power veneer of The Herd and the women in its orbit starts to crumble.
