Dollar stores have the scale to pick up market share, even from a big gun grocer like Walmart, according to a new report from Bloomberg. The stores have a heavy concentration in the U.S. and are showing no signs of slowing in terms of expansion.

They’ve been in food forever. Their presence is being aided by companies playing to their audiences. My opinion. They will not give shelf space to low margin / competitive lines like Aldi is doing.

As a former Dollar General manager I witnessed customers using my store for odds and end things...stuff to tide families over until their weekly Walmart shopping.
