Earlier this week... I talked about the three mental shifts you must make to beat the craziness of 2020... ...And continue to thrive no matter what happens in November (and beyond). Today, I want to switch gear and share three actionable tactics you can implement right away. They are... 1. Draw Inspiration from the Past In our overly-convenient ultra-comfortable modern lives... Where we can change the temperature of our homes... Have a gourmet meal delivered to our doorsteps... ...And order the latest iPhone just by grunting at our Alexa. It's easy to lose perspective on what real adversity is like. I'm not saying that 2020 hasn't been hard... ...Or trying to downplay the economic and personal devastation COVID has caused. Rather... I'm reminding you that no matter how bad things feel right now. The human race has been through worse... MUCH worse. If you think 2020 is bad... Try being Jewish in 1941 and spending FOUR years hiding from the SS under the floorboards of your friend's attic. Or living through the Black Plague without the aid of modern medicine. Or foraging for your food and wondering whether or not today will be the day you finally become a snack for a hungry lion. As crazy as 2020 is... it's still easier than nearly any time in recorded history. So I encourage you to get some fresh perspective on your challenges by picking up a book on World War II, or the "Dark Ages", or any other truly trying time in our history. When you put it down... You'll actually feel grateful for the adversity we're forced to endure today. 2. Spend 15-Minutes a Day Working on Your Mindset Read Man Up! Read Relentless. Read books from the ancient Stoics. Listen to David Goggins or Jocko Willink. Expose yourself to the thoughts of the toughest, brightest, and most resilient minds on the planet for just 15-minutes a day. Through the law of environmental exposure... ...You'll slowly but surely start to adopt their way of thinking and being. And equip yourself to handle whatever challenges come next. 3. Take on a REAL Challenge The Navy SEALs have a saying... "The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in war" And it's true. Even though things seem like they're starting to get back to normal. I believe that the worst is still to come. When it does... you need to be prepared. Not just financially, but mentally, physically, and emotionally. And the best way to prepare is by intentionally exposing yourself to acute stress. To train your mind and develop unstoppable will power. Whether this means waking up at 5 am for two weeks... Taking a cold shower shower every day... Going for a 3-mile run each morning... Or simply giving up one of your favorite vices... Find a challenge you can commit to and go conquer it. (Or just sign up for Bedros Keuilian's "The Project". He'll whip you into shape in no time ;) The more self-selected adversity and challenges you overcome... ...The more resilient and confident you will be when challenges and adversity are forced upon you.
