Initial jobless claims climbed to a seasonally adjusted 260,000 last week, up from 254,000 during the preceding week, according to the Labor Department. Claims remained above the 2019 weekly average of 218,000 and were close to the 2022 peak of 261,000.
Women hold 63% of entry-level restaurant jobs and 69% of mid-level posts but only 38% of top executive posts, according to new research from the National Restaurant Association and three other organizations including the Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance.
