One of my biggest pet peeves as a business coach is the rise of what I call "Generic Garbage". In other words... When alleged experts and gooroos try to pass off generic low-value advice as profound. You know what I'm talking about. Instagram posts with nifty little captions like... "If you can believe it, you can achieve it!" "It's better to work 80 hours a week building your dream than 40 hours a week building someone else's." "Good things come to those who hustle." And the list goes on. Now... I don't always disagree with the motivational quotes or worn out platitudes. BUT... I also don't believe that they're useful. "Generic Garbage" doesn't change lives... it doesn't give you anything actionable... and it certainly doesn't solve the real problems in your life. So today... ...I wanted to break the #gooroo mold by sharing three non-generic tips to help make millions. 1. Lions, Dolphins, and Bears Unless you're like me and you naturally wake up earlier in the day and easily fall asleep by 8 or 9 pm... DO NOT wake up at 5 am. ...In fact, just forget that the "5 Am Club" is even a thing. Because not only is it not necessary... But for most of you reading this it's actually counter-productive. According to Dr. Michael Breus, a Clinical Psychologist and world-renown sleep expert.... ...We all have specific times of day (or night) where we're more focused, productive, and energized than any other time. And each of us has a specific chronotype (biological sleep clock) that determines when we should wake up and go to sleep. These chronotypes are referred to as Bears, Lions, Dolphins, and Wolves (and despite the cute sounding names, the science is pretty sound) 50% of the population are "Bears" who are wired to sleep and work on "normal" hours (typically waking up around 7:30 to 8am) 15-20% of the population are "Wolves" or night owls who perform best when they work late into the night. 10% are "Dolphins" whose bodies are wired for less sleep and who tend to do best when they sleep only a few hours each night and then nap lightly throughout the day. And the final 15-20% are "Lions" or early birds who do their best work early in the morning. There are plenty of quizzes you can take online to find your unique chronotype. But the bigger lesson here is this... Success has nothing to do with the hour you wake up, and everything to do with how you use the hours you're awake. So instead of trying to join the 5 am club, focus instead on finding your "magic time"... The time of the day when YOU are the most focused, productive, and energetic. It doesn't matter if it's 8am, 2pm, 10pm, or 4 am... Find your magic time and guard it with your life. You'll notice an immediate improvement in your performance when you do. (If you want to dive deeper into finding your magic time, increasing your productivity, and creating a morning/sleep routine that works for you... ...Be sure to check out my Millionaire Morning Routine program where I'll walk you step-by-step through building a 7-figure morning routine) 2. How to Stop Your Goals From Killing You One of the most common questions I hear in the business/self-help space is... "Should I set realistic goals or crazy 10X goals to push myself even further?" My answer... Who cares? Some people thrive on setting and achieving smaller goals that are just within reach. And others can't motivate themselves to get out of bed unless they're trying to accomplish the impossible. What matters more than WHAT goals you set for yourself is HOW MANY goals you set. Listen... When I first start working with new clients, one of the first things I'll have them do is to throw out 90% of the goals they've set for themselves. Because most entrepreneurs and high performers are trying to do way too much. They have dozens of goals for their business, their finances, their health, their family, and their personal development. And as a result... they don't make progress on any of them. Which is why I challenge them (and you) to severely limit the number of goals they set. Specifically, I encourage you to set only four goals for yourself each year... One for your business. One for your health. One for your family/relationships. And one for your personal development. When you have ONE crystal clear goal in each area of your life... ...You can focus all of your time, attention, and energy on accomplishing that goal. And as a result, you'll accomplish it much faster. 3. Live Your Life in 90-Day Blocks By far one of the most under-rated strategies for increasing your income, achieving big goals, and creating your perfect life... ...Is to commit to intense quarterly planning. Where you reverse engineer your biggest goals and strategically plan out the important action steps for each month, week, and day. Most entrepreneurs live in a constant state of reactivity. Instead of creating the life and business they want intentionally and strategically... They're always reacting to the latest fire, opportunity, or shiny object. And because they don't have a crystal clear roadmap for each year, quarter, and month... ...They waste hundreds of hours on things that don't matter and don't move them any closer to their big results. So my challenge for you is simple... Open up your calendar right now and schedule a full day to review the last quarter and plan for the next one. Map out the big objectives you need to accomplish during each month and week of that quarter and either automate, delegate, or eliminate anything else that distracts you from these objectives. To help you with this... Be sure to download a free copy of my 90-day "reality maker" blueprint where I'll show you the process I use step-by-step. To Your Success, Craig |
