Are your home’s router, TV, phones hack-free?

Our homes are more connected than ever before. This has made daily living more convenient, with services available by voice command or button. But it opens us up to hackers. To safeguard our homes, the best strategy is to hack-proof the most common points of entry: routers, smart TV's, voice assistants and smartphones. I'll show you how.

Protecting my home

Q: Someone is stealing packages in my neighborhood. Even though I'm usually home, it happened to me too. What security system do you recommend?

A: That's just awful. You can set up garage delivery from Amazon if you get a smart garage door set-up, or you can get one of those secure boxes out front. But like you said, a security system will really help you keep an eye on what's going on out there. I trust SimpliSafe to keep my family and me safe. It's so easy to buy, set up and use. You can do it all yourself, but you still get professional monitoring 24/7. That helps me feel a lot more secure.

Right now, use the page set up for listeners of my show to get a FREE HD security camera. You get free shipping and a 60-day, money-back guarantee, too.

Finding a new email provider

Q: I’m looking for an email account server that is secure. Any recommendations?

A: I've gotten many questions like this one recently. More and more people want to move out of Big Tech's reach. I get it. That's why I'm so excited about a new sponsor of my show, StartMail. It's an email service I really trust, and you can too. They don't track you, they don't analyze your emails, and they aren't packaging up and selling your data to the highest bidder. You can send encrypted emails with one click, and when you delete an email, it’s gone forever.

Go to StartMail.com/Kim to try it out yourself free for 7 days. Use my link to get your first year for 50% off.

How can I stop Big Tech from watching?

Q: I would like to switch search engines to get away from Google. What would be the best one?

A: I put together a column all about this recently. You can read it here.

StartPage and DuckDuckGo are great places to start.

But then you really need to take a look at all the places you're giving away information. For me, the best way to protect yourself online is by using a VPN. This stops your ISP and Big Tech companies from tracking you. What you do online is your business, and a VPN helps you keep it that way.

If you want to give my pick, ExpressVPN, a try, you can get three months free on me when you sign up. Try it out and let me know what you think.
