3 takeaways from Senior Bowl

Hello, hello!

This is Terrin Waack checking in for the Saturday edition of the Saints Insider newsletter. The date is Feb. 4, 2023.

Gosh, what a busy week in the Saints world. Let's get right to it.

-- Fellow beat writer Luke Johnson and I were in Mobile, Alabama, this week for the Senior Bowl. Johnson compiled his top three thoughts and observations from the trip, centering each of them around the Saints. Read the full list here.

-- Speaking of the Senior Bowl, eight players with local Louisiana ties participated, and a number of them turned heads with their performances in practice. Read the full story here.

-- According to an ESPN report, the Saints hired Todd Grantham to the team's staff. Grantham served as an analyst on the Alabama staff in 2022 and had reportedly interviewed for the Crimson Tide's vacant defensive coordinator position. Read the full story here.

-- Episode 137 of the "Dattitude" podcast dropped. Columnist Jeff Duncan and crew debated whether the Saints made a good deal trading Sean Payton to the Denver Broncos. Listen to the full episode here.

-- Columnist Rod Walker takes readers down memory lane with a look back at the Super Bowl 10 years ago when the lights went out in the Caesars Super dome. Read the full column here.

-- Staff writer Spencer Urquhart details how how the Philadelphia Eagles went from long shots to Super Bowl 57 favorites. Read the full story here.

That's all I have for you today. Be sure to check out Nola.com's dedicated Saints page to make sure you're caught up on all the latest and greatest.

Unrelated but related: If ever in Mobile, I highly recommend Aroy Thai. Everyone in attendance loved their dinner meals. I personally ordered the panang curry -- and would eat weekly (correction: daily) if possible.

Enjoy your weekend!

Waack out.
