"If you give people small, bite-sized information, they learn it ... We know from research that people like it, particularly in healthcare." — Amelia Waldrup, MSN, NEA-BC, senior director of patient services, Children's Hospital New Orleans

Hundreds of nurse leaders who gathered last week for AONL 22, the annual conference of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), picked up ideas on mentoring, well-being, and how to move forward after a difficult two years.

For this week's lead story, we look at three of those hot topics.

Tell us about a nurse leader who deserves recognition!

For National Nurses Week next month, we are looking to showcase a handful of outstanding acute-care nurse leaders here in this newsletter and we'd appreciate a little input from you.

Can you tell us about a fellow nurse leader who is doing great things at their hospital or health system and would be willing to share how they're doing it? It could be, for example:

  • Someone who has gone above and beyond to help their nurses through COVID
  • An innovative nurse leader who is embracing technology to lighten workloads
  • A leader with such phenomenal retention skills that staff turnover is low
  • A CNO whose mentoring skills are second to none
  • A leader who has made their nurses' mental well-being their top priority

You get the idea.

We know that nurse leaders prefer accolades be directed away from themselves, so the interviews and stories would focus on how that nurse leader accomplished their particular achievement — so that other leaders can learn from them.

If you'd like to nominate a nurse leader, simply send their name, the name of their healthcare organization, and what great thing they're doing to me at CDavis@Healthleadersmedia.com
