3 Ways to Go From Aspiring Writer to Published Author

This might not surprise you, but not everyone who wants to be a writer ends up making a living as one.

Shocking, I know.

One distinction I’ve observed through the years that separates the merely aspiring writers to the published authors is something I call mindset.

If you want to make a living writing, there are things you have to do—or should I say, think—differently than perhaps you are now.

Let’s look at 3 ways (or mindsets) necessary to go from aspiring writer to published author.

Admit You Need an Audience. Art that isn’t shared, or experienced by someone else, doesn’t fulfill its purpose.
Embrace Your Worldview. If you hit the right note with your writing, it will strike a chord with people (your audience).
Stop Worrying about Good. What is good writing anyway? Guess what, there’s no such thing as good writing. Don’t think of your writing in terms of good, but in terms of being effective.
