31 Days Left For Climate-Smart Ag Action In 2022

I hope those of you here in the U.S. had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday this past wek. Somehow, time keeps ticking and before we know it, the year will be over.

How will you invest the last month of 2022 to advance climate-smart agriculture with the producers and partners you serve?

That’s a question we’re asking ourselves here at Trust In Food as the year winds to a close. The food, agriculture and conservation communities have seen enormous opportunity this year. Billions of dollars have been committed to provide technical assistance and financial support for farmers to implement climate-smart practices. And while the resources are at the ready, the work is just getting underway.

As you wrap up 2022 and finalize strategic plans for the New Year, I want to encourage you to be strategic. It’s tempting to try to do a bunch of things at once, but it might well be that a handful of well-placed decisions could set you up for greater success.

As Martin G. Moore wrote earlier this year in Harvard Business Review, some of our best decisions are made under pressure, with little time for extensive hand-wringing:

“Many leaders procrastinate on decisions because they’re overwhelmed by fear of making a mistake or, even worse, of not being liked. But the extent to which you might labor on any particular facet of the decision-making process should be determined by one thing: risk. Your assessment of risk will dictate whether you should take a more or less cautious approach.”

This season, consider ways you can make smart steps to advance your climate-smart work while mitigating risk. The next move you make might be the one that opens the door to bold new fronts in the coming year.

Enjoy this season and remember the people your decisions impact most: farmers and ranchers on the front lines of the industry that feeds us, clothes us and keeps us moving forward.

Yours in regenerative ag,
