Clark: Save More and Spend Less
Happy New Year!
The beginning of the year is a great time to take a look at your budget and recommit to your financial success. As we welcome 2020, we wanted to share some of our favorite tips for making savings a resolution to remember.
Team Clark recently came together to share our favorite ways to save, including how to reduce monthly expenses, how to get the best deals while shopping, how to save for long-term goals and more.
Cut the Cable Cord. If you're still paying for cable, you can save up to $92 every month by switching to a streaming TV service instead. That's over $1,000 back in your pocket this year!
Create Shopping Lists. Impulse buys can add up quickly and leave you wondering where the money went. To prevent buyer's remorse, know what you need before you leave the house and stick to your list.
Price Compare. This tip is important whether you're shopping for the best service provider, making a major purchase or simply going to the grocery store. Call competitors, check online, and use tools like Google Shopping to make sure you're getting the best price.
Look For Free Entertainment. You don't have to spend a fortune to go out and have a good time. In fact, you don't have to go out at all! Check your library for free entertainment, or enter a quick Google search for your area to find free events.
Set Up Automated Savings. If you use direct deposit, ask your employer about automated savings. Most of the time, you can allot a certain amount of your check to be deposited into a savings account. With this tip, you can build a savings account effortlessly!
As you continue to learn more ways to save, keep in mind that you don’t have to do everything at once. The beginning of the year can be overwhelming, and it’s more important to make lasting changes over time.
Instead, I challenge you to choose one tip at a time. Bookmark this page and re-visit it once a week throughout the year.
During the first week of the new year, go through your subscriptions and cancel anything you no longer need. The next week, maybe you can test out a few rewards programs. After only a few months, you’ll be amazed to see how much money is going back in your pocket!
