TOMS King Holdings subsidiaries cite impact of pandemic on business.

Subsidiaries of an Illinois-based Burger King franchisee, one of the largest in the brand’s U.S. system, reportedly have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection at units operating about 90 restaurants. The suburban Chicago company said its business was impacted loss of business during the pandemic without decreases is rent, debt service and other costs.

John Cywinski has been with Applebee’s since 2017. He will be replaced by Tony Moralejo, president of Dine Brands international and global development.

Cywinski was named president in March 2017 after serving as EVP at Brinker International. Prior, he served as president of KFC U.S. Under his leadership, Applebee’s experienced a swift recovery from 2020 and returned to net new unit growth.
