4.8% unemployment rate In September, the unemployment rate declined from 5.2% to 4.8% and the economy added 194,000 jobs, with upward revisions for the previous two months totaling 169,000. Federal contractor compliance The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs entered into conciliation agreements with three companies this week to resolve allegations of discrimination: Regus Management Group has agreed to pay $900,000 in back wages and interest to 4,285 Black and male applicants at facilities nationwide. AstraZeneca has agreed to pay $560,000 to Hispanic and female employees at its Delaware headquarters.
