May is mental health awareness month. Here is a roundup of four HealthLeaders articles to raise awareness of behavioral health issues affecting nurses.
Nurses' behavioral health should be a priority. During Mental Health Awareness month, the focus is often on patients. But, as you will see in this issue's feature story, nurses' mental health needs to be a priority as well. Nurses experience higher than average behavioral health issues like emotional fatigue, burnout, depression, and anxiety when compared to the public. My hope is that nurse leaders will read the article and implement ways to support nurses' mental well-being.
