Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck while J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane held Floyd on the ground as Floyd said repeatedly he couldn't breathe. Tou Thao kept people back who begged the officers to get up and he did not intervene. Kueng, Lane and Thao also face state charges of aiding and abetting Floyd's murder in May of 2020.
Authorities don’t yet have suspects but don’t believe the person or people who are responsible for the killings come from the area or are still in the area, he added.
Asked about a motive, he said, “That one is a mystery. We do not know a motive yet.”
