The US stock market posted gains on Thursday, with the Dow and S&P 500 both advancing 1.2%. The Nasdaq pulled ahead slightly with a 1.3% gain, and the small-cap Russell 2K added 1.7% on the session. Today, futures are predicting a pull-back at the open. S&P 500 contracts are currently down 0.8% with the opening bell a couple of hours away. Rising Rates Mortgage rates topped 4% for the first time since 2019 since the Fed announced its quarter-point rate hike earlier in the week. The increase in mortgage rates could throw some cold water on the red-hot property market, and the shifting fiscal sands are prompting some investors to rethink their portfolio strategies. The Fed is planning to hike rates five more times in 2022, so be prepared for a bumpy year. You should be aware that a whole-lot of froth is about to get sucked out of the market, so now is a good time to reevaluate your holdings. Determine if you should dump any over-hyped stocks now, before the market potentially brings them back down to earth later in the year. Trimble Inc [TRMB] - Last Close: $70.10 Trimble is trending on some notable insider activity. Yesterday, the company released eight Form 4 disclosures detailing moves by company insiders. The rash of insider activity included several instances where executives acquired additional shares. Trimble's President and CEO, Robert Painter, was included in the buyers. His net acquisition of roughly 5,700 additional shares puts his overall stake in the company at 121.1 million shares. Investors are bullish on the frenzy of insider activity at TRMB. The stock is leading the S&P 500 with a 6.1% gain. KidPik Corp [PIK] - Last Close: $4.75 Shares of KidPik are soaring after the company announced a game-changing partnership. Yesterday morning, the company announced that it had successfully landed a partnership with Disney. KidPik has developed a product line whose release will coincide with the launch of Disney+'s exclusive new film Cheaper by the Dozen, set to debut on the streaming service today, March 18th. KidPik will promote the film with the launch of a handful of new products inspired by the film. News of KidPik's new partnership with Disney sparked a massive 158% rally in Thursday's session, and the gains kept coming in the after-hours. PIK is trading actively with a 23.8% gain in today's trading session. Siyata Mobile [SYTA] - Last Close: $1.21 Siyata Mobile is trending after a big announcement. The enterprise-focused cellular communication company disclosed a Form 6-K a couple of days ago that revealed it would present at an upcoming industry event hosted by Maxim Group LLC, 2022 Virtual Growth Conference. Siyata will have the opportunity to present itself to an audience of prominent investors, and it could lead to an influx of capital for the tiny firm. Huize Holdings [HUIZ] - Last Close: $0.95 Huize Holdings is up big on news of a new initiative to build shareholder value. The Chinese insurance platform announced today that its Board of Directors has approved a share repurchase program that will include up to US$5 million worth of the company's American depository shares over the next 12 months. "The Board's decision to authorize the share repurchase program is aligned with our commitment to return value to our shareholders and reflects the confidence we have in Huize's long-term growth prospects," said Mr. Cunjun Ma, Huize's Chairman and CEO.
