August 15 marks the 40th anniversary of Mother Angelica “flipping the switch” and broadcasting the first program on EWTN.

Before Mother Angelica launched the Network, most people told her that it was impossible. They said that she needed deep pockets. They said that a Nun without television experience wouldn’t last a few weeks.

Instead of listening to them, Mother Angelica listened to God, and she stepped out in faith. Because of her trust in the Lord, EWTN is here 40 years later.
