A now defunct airline, Jetair Australia, was given permission to offer flights between Melbourne and Canberra on this day in 1970. The weekend-only service was set to run through Gippsland and the South Coast, giving Canberrans access to popular holiday destinations. The day's front page also featured an advertisement from local real estate agent Laurie Scheele, with a three-bedroom house with a garage in Ainslie on offer for $12,500.
