Are you brave enough? Scariest haunted house in America requires legal consent

Haunted houses are a seasonal tradition dating back generations. As technology gets better, so do the scares — but one attraction operator in Tennessee has decided to go a bit further than usual. Russ McKamey operates McKamey Manor, which has been billed as the scariest haunted house in America for several years running. Unlike other haunts, Russ takes a different approach. Rather than subject you to ghosts and goblins, McKamey Manor provides guests with a simulated horror movie experience that begins with a fake kidnapping, followed by restraints, psychological torture and even exposure to bugs and cold water. In order to participate, you have to sign a 40-page waiver and provide a signed doctor’s note. It sounds like a whole lot of trouble just to get some scares, but there is an upside: admission is free. All you need to bring is a bag of dog food for his pets. The waiting list, as of now, is over 20,000 people deep.

I guess lots of people aren’t scared enough by real life. Maybe they should try driving in Russia.
