Return to Black Wall Street

It's the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre, and the tragic historic event is finally getting the attention it should.

U.S. President Joe Biden is in the Oklahoma city today to commemorate the hundreds of lives lost when a white mob attacked Black citizens of the Greenwood neighborhood.

This is also an economic story. Greenwood was a prosperous community, known as the Black Wall Street. As such, Biden is rolling out policies on housing and government contracting today that are aimed at closing the racial wealth gap.

As June begins, we'll be digging into the data and stories behind entrepreneurship and wealth among Black Americans as part of Technical.ly's Racial Equity in Tech Month.

What policy or story do you think we should highlight? Email us at baltimore@technical.ly or reply here.
