Learn MoreThis Week in Washington, D.C.On Dec 1, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a challenge to Mississippi’s ban on abortion at 15 weeks. Mississippi has asked the court to completely overturn both the Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey decisions that have protected abortion access for the last 50 years. The ERLC submitted an amicus brief in the Dobbs case stating that the U.S. Constitution “does not create a right to an abortion of an unborn child before viability or at any other stage of pregnancy. An asserted right to abortion has no basis in constitutional text or in American history and tradition.” This case presents a rare and important opportunity for the court to reconsider the protections given to the unborn in our country. The ERLC will be at the Supreme Court with other advocates for the oral arguments and will be providing updates throughout the day and as the case progresses. What You Need to ReadThomas S. Kidd with Thanksgiving: More than turkey and touchdowns Thanksgiving historically was about "thanks-giving" directed to God. This is an instructive lesson, not only for better understanding our history, but also for curbing the temptation to make Thanksgiving into a holiday of over-consumption. The Pilgrims remind us that Thanksgiving is not all about turkey and touchdowns. Mark Smith with How Christians can use ordinary moments to show hospitality In the busyness of our lives — and the holiday season — may we be a people of gracious hospitality. May our hearts and homes be open to share the love of Christ through a warm meal, a loving embrace, or a word of encouragement. And through it all, may we come to treasure the God who went to the uttermost lengths to welcome us in.
