A Chorley family are trying to raise £100,000 in the hope of funding more research and a cure for their nine-year-old son diagnosed three years ago with a rare genetic disorder. Keri, 39, and 42-year-old Ian Brooks from Eccleston are trying to raise much needed funds for son Owen who doctors took six years to reach a diagnosis of Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) - a rare, inherited condition that affects several organs and gets worse over time. From milking a cow and dressing as Chorley FC's Victor Magpie to parasailing in Portugal, no feat is too big for this soon-to-be 60-year-old. Margaret Sherrington is proving that your 60s is all about being fearless by leaping 11,000ft out of plane in aid of Derian House Children’s Hospice. The latest daredevil stunt is number 49 out of 60 challenges planned ahead of her milestone birthday in October. Hot on the heels of England’s Lionesses roaring to Euros victory, an event exploring the birth of women’s football took place at Deepdale. The Dick, Kerr Ladies football team was formed during the First World War in Preston to boost morale amongst women whose husbands were fighting on the front line. They are credited with being true trailblazers, more than a century before England’s big win at Wembley.
