Maybe this was stupid...

But at 47, I decided to…

- Move to another country (Mexico)

- Have my first child

- Start Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu… (dumbest idea yet, lol)

- Learn a new language (Spanish)

- And buy out my business partners in the face of a worldwide recession

Whoever said:

“If you ain’t growing, you’re dying”…

Was right.

You have to push yourself…

Even when it’s easier to start coasting.

Sure you could take the easy way out in life, and walk the path of least resistance…

But do you really want to be a garden variety, sports watching, beer drinking, overweight, weekend alcoholic that hides from his wife in his so-called “mancave” avoiding his kids and letting them be raised by freaks on social media…

While it kills you knowing that you have so much more potential?

Or do you want to be a great father, in an amazing marriage, with smart, well-adjusted children who have been given the tools to have a bright future?

Do you aspire to be an effective leader, a successful businessman and a good example in your community, a mentor to the next generation, and a consistent and reliable friend?

These are the types of questions I ask myself every time I am tempted to take the easy way out…

* When I want to go to my phone during family time…

* When I want to have a drink to deal with stress … even though I quit booze two years ago

* When I want to go back to sleep in the morning rather than get to work…

* When I want skip BJJ because I’m embarrassingly bad ;)

Take a moment today…

Ask yourself what you really want

Identify what really matters to you and your family

Create your core values and live by them

And then it’s easy to make the right decision for your best life - always.
