What's the deal with the nursing shortage?

Is the U.S really on the verge of a nursing crisis? The answer depends on multiple factors. In this issue, Heidi Sanborn, RN, of Arizona State University, gives her take on the nursing shortage, and her insights show that the devil is in the details. You'll see that what's true for one organization or region may not be true for another.

Last week, Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's Senate hearing put the subject of sexual misconduct into the public consciousness. Unfortunately, sexual assault is also an issue in healthcare. A recent case in Florida raises questions about how organizations should handle allegations of sexual assault against employees. Additionally, a recent study of bariatric patients who experienced childhood sexual abuse found that they have different recovery paths than those who have not experienced abuse.

Also in this issue: flu shots, mandatory staffing ratios, and nurse student debt repayment.
